Creative Europe's stated aims are to help the cultural and creative sectors seize the opportunities of the digital age and globalisation, enable the sectors to reach their economic potential, contributing to sustainable growth, jobs, and social cohesion, and to give Europe's culture and media sectors access to new international opportunities, markets, and audiences.
This will, amongst others, involve funding for:

  • artists and cultural professionals
  • cinemas
  • films
  • book translations

The Creative Europe programme provides opportunities for film producers to develop European Audiovisual works with a potential to circulate in the European Union beyond, and to facilitate European and international cooperation.

Support for the Development of European Video Games
Description of call
"Support for the Development of European Video Games"

Video game developers can apply for funding for the development of games and game concepts, which promise a high degree of originality, innovation and cultural diversity, and have great potential for commercial exploitation on European and international markets. Eligible for funding are projects that have interactive and narrative elements.

Only activities relating to the development phase for the following projects are eligible:

  • Narrative storytelling video games regardless of platform or expected distribution method.

In all cases the video game must be intended for commercial exploitation.

Eligible applicants Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, SMEs (between 10 and 249 employees), Start Up Company, Microenterprises (fewer than 10 employees), Enterprise (more than 250 employees or not defined)
Applicant details

Eligible applicants: European video game production companies which have been legally constituted for at least 12 months prior to the submission date and that can demonstrate a recent success.

Financial details

The contribution is between 10 000 € and 150 000 € for the concept and project development of an European video game (activities to the point that the concept leads to a playable prototype or trial version).

The financial contribution awarded will in no event exceed 50% of the total eligible costs submitted by the applicant.
